It would be kind to say that Shane Mosley (46-6-1, 39 KO’s) has underperformed in his last two fights. Mosley, 39, lost to Floyd Mayweather Jr. by a 12 round decision in May, and then on September 18th, Mosley fought to a boring 12 round draw with Sergio Mora. That was one of the dullest fights I’ve seen in quite some time, and Mosley looked slow, lethargic and old. Bob Arum, the head of Top Rank, isn’t interesting in matching Mosley up with his fighters Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto.
Those are the fighters that Mosley wants to fight. However, he hasn’t done himself any favors by looking so poor in both of his last two fights. Mosley did nothing after the 2nd round in the Mayweather bout. I can understand Mosley losing to Mayweather, but not looking so bad for the last 10 rounds of the fight. Mosley looked totally shot, and he continued to look that way against Mora. Luckily for him, Mora chose to move all night long instead of opening up on Mosley.
Unless Mosley is interested in fighting someone like Joshua Clottey, who Arum was willing to match against Mosley in the past, he probably can forget about fighting any of Top Ranks stable of fighters. Mosley needs to downsize his desire to fight big named opponents, because he hasn’t looked entertaining enough in his last two fights to lure any of the other popular fighters in taking him on.
Below I’ve listed potential opponents for Mosley:
Saul Alvarez
Andre Berto
Mike Jones
Kermit Cintron
Alfredo Angulo
Vanes Martirosyan
In the meantime crave no more to watch Pacquiao vs Margarito Fight since it is weeks from reality.
